Designing for climate resilience
How orientation and material choice prepare buildings for a changing climate.
Resilience is mostly unglamorous: overhangs deep enough for a hotter sun, ground floors set above a wetter flood line, materials that survive both. We now model every project against the climate its occupants will live in, not the one in the historic data.
The cheapest measures are also the oldest. Thick walls, cross ventilation and shade have kept buildings comfortable for centuries, and they still do.
