Six run-down terraced houses brought back as one row: insulated from outside, rendered white, and given new roof extensions that read as a single crisp line.

Retrofit is mostly about what you cannot see: external insulation, new windows, airtightness. The one visible move is the roof, where six separate dormers became one continuous line so that the row reads as a single building again.

Heating bills for the tenants fell by roughly two-thirds in the first winter.
